Kerala is facing the worst flooding in the last 100 years. Kerala rains & floods highlights: Nearly 350 people have died since August 8. Essential services have taken a hit, with shortages in medical supplies and drinking water reported from several places. The situation is worsening with each passing day. Lakhs of people are living in ill-maintained relief camps where they grapple with acute shortage of clean water, food and medicines.The fear of spread of water-borne diseases looms large.
As always, children are the worst-affected. They are at the receiving end of intense psychological trauma as they deal with the loss of homes, belongings and even loved ones in some cases.
